Talking about myself, my name is Bibek Gurung. My permanent address is Divyanagar-6, Chitwan, Nepal & my temporary address is Baluwatar, Kathmandu. Recently after passing my +2 level, I have joined Bachelor in computing course in Islington College Pvt Ltd which is directly affiliated to London Metropolitan University which is situated in London, UK. It is the first college to provide the British degree in Nepal directly. I hope that I will be able to explore more about the university life through this degree programme.
In the beginning, there was an orientation program which was much helpful for me to know more about the course I have chosen and also about college as well as university. That vary programme gave me more courage to study sincerely. The orientation programme was far better than I had expected.
At first I had thought that there would not be proper study. But as I went for the first lecture, lecturer started the course after a brief introduction about herself and about the module she will be teaching. At first I was a bit confused about what she was teaching but after little more effort I was able to understand clearly. In first semester, we have to study four different modules i.e. Logic, Introduction to Programming, Study skills for Computing & Problem solving for IT. As Logic was just like mathematics, it was quiet easy to understand it & Problem solving for IT became my favorite module. Introduction to programming is little bit headache to me. Study skills module is the little bit disliked module of mine because i hate giving presentations but one thing is good about it that we don't have to give exam for this module.
The way of British university education is totally different from the education technique in Nepal. Taking two hours long lecture, then tutorial classes and then workshops makes my whole week busy. Sometime I have to go to college early in the morning while sometime in late afternoon. This makes me little bit disappointed about the college. Anyway, I am trying to adjust my days into that kind of routine. That’s it for today.
Thank you for reading.
